Sings and Symptoms of Blepharitis
Blepharitis is a chronic inflammation of the ocular system, mainly characterized by itchy eyelids, soreness, and redness. If the patient does not follow a proper blepharitis treatment, the condition will heal more slowly (up to 1 month!), and it will be constantly recurring. When some one is experiencing red eyelids it typically means that they're inflamed. Of course since there isn't a root cause to symptoms like this, it can be numerous conditions that are playing a part. However, with all the medical knowledge out there it is a little easier nowadays to get an idea as to what is causing the problem. There's a few primary sources that can lead to these symptoms and have popped up in the doctors office more often in today's age and the number 1 eye slapper is blepharitis. Besides the medical treatment that the patient needs to undergo there are many natural healing remedies that must be considered such as warm compressions over the eyelids with chamomile or black tea, gentle eyelid scrubs with an antibacterial soap, and dietary changes (a higher intake of omega 3 fatty acid especially). These are the main signs and symptoms of the condition:
- irritated eyes, soreness
- a constant burning sensation that makes it difficult even to keep your eyes opened
- swollen eyelids
- itchy eyelids accompanied by redness of the eyelids
- light sensitivity- many blepharitis patients have difficulty keeping their eyes open in direct sunshine
- the skin gets flaky around the eyes- this is why eyelid scrubbing is so important, in order to eliminate those flakes
- Sensation of dryness in the eyes- mainly because the lachrymal glands do not work properly, and do not produce enough oily liquid to keep the eyes moistened
- vision that is sometimes blurred
- eyelashes that start growing abnormally
- even loss of eyelashes

If left untreated, all these symptoms will get worse. This is why it is important to follow proper treatment regarding blepharitis prescribed by your doctor. Moreover, make sure to follow a rigorous eyelid hygiene, because this way you will be able to fight off the infection much quicker.
Eyelids that are hot to the touch are most likely coming from a bad case of blepharitis. If it does occur like that then it is suggested to get checked out immediately by a health care professional, preferrably an eye care specialist. A single treatment may be prescribed by a doctor at first and then will send you home to start testing out the medication. In other instances, an ophthalmologist will most likely be all you need, and recuperation is usually fairly fast.

Also, ask your currant doctor to prescribe antibiotic ointment that you can use 2 to 3 times per day in order to kill the bacteria that cause the infection.
